‘Drive-Away’ can be activated within the car dealership, giving the customer free fully comprehensive cover for seven days. Dealers must be registered for the scheme.
Dealers and their customers do not have to pay for anything, the service is completely free. Adrian Flux believes enough drivers will stick with it’s services to make the scheme worth while.
"Getting insurance sorted when you’re buying a car can be an incredibly frustrating business," says Craig Darwin of Flux, who is overseeing the scheme.
"Especially if you make the deal, then have to wait days for your cover to come through.
"By making things run smoothly our Drive-Away policy is going to help both the car buyer and the car dealer.”
(There are some restrictions. The maximum value of the vehicle is £25,000 and it must be on a UK number plate. Drivers must have had a full licence for 12 months, with no more than two minor motoring convictions in the past five years. They can’t have been banned or under suspension from driving during the past five years. In addition, they must not have made more than one fault or theft insurance claim in the past three years. )
