Name: Daniel Kibby
Company: Roy West Motor Company
Job Assistant: manager
Age: 21
How did you get in to the automotive business?
I started off as a fitter at a garage in Norwich and then moved on to sales.
What does your job entail?
Sales, helping with the day-to-day running of the business.
I also help out with the mechanical side where I can, finding solutions to problems.
How will your job change over the next few years?
Not massively. I may progress to a level where I can become manager if the situation arises.
Other jobs?
As a fitter and on reception at Holburn Tyres. Before that I did vehicle maintenance at Norwich City College.
What advice would you give to young people planning to join the industry?
Learn the mechanical side of it, it helps you so much. Learn the products and do well at school.
What’s the worst career move you’ve ever made?
Probably the garage I started at. It wasn’t a good atmosphere and I didn’t progress there.
And the best?
Moving to Roy’s Motor Company.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Moving into sales a lot more, perhaps owning my own business if possible.
