A new electric car, capable of 230mph, has made its debut in Japan.

The Eliica (electric lithium-ion battery car) has an 800bhp engine and can reach 60mph in 4 seconds.

Hiroshi Shimizu, who invented the car, claims the Eliica could reach 250mph.

It’s arrival on British roads could be hindered by the £170,000 price tag and the 10-hour recharge time.
