Saab has unveiled its new 9-3 convertible 1.9 TiD turbo diesel variant at the Brussels International Motor Show.

The new 150bhp 16-valve diesel variant is available with the Linear and Vector trims. It also comes with a choice of six-speed manual or an optional automatic transimission.

The 0-62mph dash is accomplished in 10 seconds (11.2 seconds for the automatic). Combined cycle fuel consumption returns 44.8mpg.

A maintenance-free, exhaust particulate filter is fitted as standard.

UK deliveries of the 9-3 Convertible 1.9 TiD start late next month, with on-the-road prices ranging from a competitive £25,370 for the Linear model, to £27,664 for the sporting Vector derivative.

The special metallic blue 20th anniversary Cerulean edition is also temporarily available in Vector form at £28,439.

Saab forecasts the new 1.9 TiD will account for at least 20% of all 9-3 Convertible sales in 2006.
