Vauxhall has announced that its new Zafira VXR will cost £21,995 when it goes on sale in October.

Order books are open now for the seven-seat MPV, which has increased in price by £220 on the previous model.

It comes with a 238bhp 2.0-litre turbo engine which it shares with the Astra VXR, coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Zafira VXR reaches 0-60mph in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 144mph.

Exterior features include a spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. Nineteen-inch alloys are optional at £500.

Interior features include Recaro sport seats in two-tone leather/fabric, trim strips on the instrument and colour-coordinated door panels and, the sports steering wheel and gearshift lever incorporate the VXR logo. Like its predecessor, the VXR uses the Flex7 seating system.

Customers can specify options including Electronic Climate Control for £250, a Bluetooth compatible mobile phone system for £300 and front and rear parking sensors for £350.
