The DTI is facing the prospect of an investigation into its failed attempt to save MG Rover.

The National Audit Office, a public spending watchdog, is considering whether to investigate the financial assistance the DTI gave to MG Rover in its last days.

A decision is expected in the next seven days. Earlier this week the DTI confirmed it would undertake an investigation into the accounts of MG Rover and its associated companies.
