Connaught has been selected by the Energy Saving Trust to represent sustainable vehicle technology at the forthcoming Climate Change conference in Perthshire, Scotland on Monday (June 6).

The conference addresses energy saving issues related to climate change, one of the key themes at the G8 Summit in Gleneagles, July 6-8.

The Connaught petrol/electric hybrid system is the brainchild of Tim Bishop and Tony Martindale and has to date received almost £0.5m worth of funding from the Energy Saving Trust with 17 patents pending on its technology.

Connaught has beaten mainstream manufacturers in the race to produce a high performance energy-efficient sports car. The first ever V10 hybrid engine is fitted into the Connaught Type-D sports coupé.

Tests recently conducted at the Vehicle Emissions Laboratory (VEL) at Millbrook Proving Ground demonstrated an overall reduction in CO2 emissions of almost 15% over the performance of a regular petrol engine.
