Inchcape, the international automotive services group, has announced that Alan Ferguson, group finance director, will be leaving the board in September to take up the position of group finance director at BOC Group.

Alan Ferguson, group finance director, says: "I have enormous respect for the Inchcape management team and the inherent quality of its businesses.

"It is a company with considerable potential. After twenty-two fulfilling years including six on the board, it will be a wrench to move on. However the role of finance director at a company such as BOC represents a rare career opportunity, and one that I am greatly looking forward to taking up."

Inchcape has yet to appoint a Ferguson’s successor.
