Toyota’s new Aygo city car has been awarded a four star occupant safety rating by the Euro NCAP testing programme.

Aygo got a three star rating for child protection and two stars for pedestrian safety.

Kazuhiko Miyadera, Toyota Europe’s executive vice president for research and development, says: "Attaining high levels of passive safety for a vehicle of 3.4 metres length represented an engineering challenge for Toyota. Euro NCAP’s 4-star classification is an excellent reward for our efforts."
