Volkswagen has announced that its new Polo will be priced from £7,495 to £15,290 on-the-road and will go on sale on June 10.

The range starts with the E 1.2-litre 53bhp 3-door, moving up through the S and SE, and finishing with the range-topping Sport, which features a choice of petrol and diesel engines including a 1.9-litre TDI 128bhp.

The S model starts at £8,850 on-the-road and includes climatic semi-automatic climate control, alloy wheels, electric front windows, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, front fog lights, central locking, CD player; body-coloured side bump strips, door mirrors and door handles and ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard.

Two new Euro IV-compliant diesel engines are available with the new Polo, both variants of the 1.4-litre TDI 73bhp.

Replacing the 1.9-litre SDI 62bhp, the new 1.4-litre TDI 68bhp now includes unit injector technology and variable geometry turbo charging. A new 1.4-litre TDI 78bhp unit is to replace the 73bhp engine of the previous Polo. In total, five petrol and four diesel engines are available.
