Nissan Motors has filed a trademark infringement suit against Audi, claiming that Audi stole the letter Q from Nissan for its forthcoming Q7 and Q5 SUVs, reports the Detroit News.

Nissan has used Q as the first letter identifying its US Infiniti brand Q45 and QX4 since 1989 and has registered the names and a slogan "the new Q" with the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Nissan is seeking undisclosed damages from Audi and reimbursement for legal costs.

Audi had no comment.
