The move is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its representation in the diagnostics sector.
“Gunson is a perfect fit for Laser since it extends our diagnostics offering by providing a proven range of established equipment and new areas of distribution, particularly in the high street,” says Martin Smith, managing director of Laser Tools.
“It also takes us further into the European arena by giving us entry into new markets.” The acquisition follows Lasers’ purchase of Kamasa Tools in March 2004. The company now hopes to improve the turnover and profitability of Gunson and is using the model of its Kamasa acquisition as a blueprint. It is also looking for further expansion.
“We are looking to acquire companies that offer similar fit to Kamasa and Gunson. This is a core to our development strategy,” says Smith.
