The UK is unaffected by the global recall by Honda, of 640,000 vehicles after suspected defects within transmission and fuel pump systems were spotted in tests. The move will cost the company an estimated $75m (£41m).

The models involved in the recall include the Accord, Acura TL and Acura CL in the US alone. Here American Honda has expanded its existing voluntary recall to include light truck models also.

The recall predominantly impacts the US market where approximately 499,000 Honda vehicles are being checked for transmission failure.

Other markets affected are, Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
