Manufacturing union Amicus has named Duncan Simpson's successor as national officer for the automotive industry as Tony Murphy, formerly Amicus' national officer for automotive components. Murphy took over from retiring national officer Duncan Simpson on Thursday, April 8.

Amicus represents 65,000 members in the car industry, in many plants alongside the TGWU and in some the GMB. Murphy will work out of Amicus' Stoke office.
