Dixon Motors has entered all its South Yorkshire dealerships into the Motor Trade Partnership scheme developed by the region's Trading Standards Service. Similar partnerships operate elsewhere in the UK, but dealer take-up has been patchy.

The 'Motor Trade Partnership' is an initiative between the four authorities in South Yorkshire and motor dealers in the region to commit to promoting best practise in the motor trade and to increase customer satisfaction. Dixon was a founding member of the scheme at its launch in September. Since then, all 13 Dixon dealerships within South Yorkshire have undergone the pre-requisite audit to confirm a history of fair trading, and are now allowed to use the South Yorkshire Trading Standards Service 'Approved' logo.- The DTI/OFT-supported RMI CarWise scheme, intended to convey the same kind of consumer assurance as the customer satisfaction research-based Trading Standards schemes, is to be launched in March.
