The product, available only to registered UK dealers, allows trade stock to be uploaded on to a network which also provides up-to-the-minute stock lists from contract hire and leasing companies, remarketing agents and auction houses and part exchanges from other dealers. Retailers have control of the trade stock they place on the system and can add vehicles and monitor and manage advertisements. The system is designed to seek out the 80 most relevant buyers in the country from its database of more than 8,000 dealers.
The launch follows a trial of 200 users. Auto Trader hopes to have 1,000 dealers signed up by the end of the year.
“It's something the trade community has needed for a long time and we're pleased to be the first to offer it,” says James Bromley, Auto Trader business development director.
Auto Trader has also launched an improved version of its Dealer Edit software, which allows dealers to upload stock to any of the Auto Trader magazines and traderlink.co.uk. It offers trade users a selection of publications and websites in which to place advertisements, and has the ability to upload multiple pictures.
