Hyundai unveiled a 'Santro' hatchback built by its Indian subsidiary at Frankfurt yesterday, which will join the Tata SUV, pick-up range and Indica-based MG Rover City supermini in vehicle exports from the sub-continent to Europe.

Rechristened as the 'Atos Prime', the 1.1-litre car would be launched initially in 12 Western European markets including Italy, Germany, France, Greece, Spain, Netherlands and Sweden, Hyundai Motor Europe vice president Werner H Frey announced.

"We plan to sell 15,000 units of the 'Atos Prime' this year and 35,000 units the year after," Frey said, adding that the Atos Prime will be priced in European markets at between €7,500 and €7,900 – somewhat below MG Rover's price for the Tata Indica-derived City model.
