A Vauxhall Zafira was selected for a ceremony today, 27 November, to mark the silver jubilee of the Motability Scheme. Vauxhall was a founder member of Motability and is one of the largest single suppliers of cars to the scheme.

Last year the company gave the chance to get out and about to almost 40,000 people, a figure which represents 30 per cent of the total new cars entering the Motability network.

The keys to the specially adapted Zafira were handed by Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Transport to Mr Len Clark of Hammersmith at the ceremony at West End Vauxhall at Staples Corner, West Hendon, North-West London.

Since 1978, Motability has provided more than 1.7 million disabled people a car or powered wheelchair on special finance terms.

- Mazda UK has announced the Mazda2 supermini manual and ASM (Auto Shift Manual) and MX-5 sports car are now available at nil advance payment for customers who obtain their cars under the Motability contract hire scheme.
