High-spec turbodiesel people carriers are more sought after than petrol versions. In addition most buyers want the extra flexibility of three rows of seats. Close cousins Galaxy, Sharan and Alhambra take the lead, followed by the pricier Chrysler Voyager and Toyota Previa. Just £6500 buys a 98R Galaxy 2.0 Aspen five-seater with 40,000 miles, but a seven-seater 1.9 TD 110 Ghia fetches about £10,500 on the same plate at an independent dealer and £11,000-plus at a Ford franchise.
