British voter rejection of the euro could signal an end to Nissan investment in Britain, Nissan President Carlos Ghosn has warned in an interview in Japan.
Talking to the Japan Times, Mr Ghosn said that the rate fluctuations between the British pound and the euro are making it difficult for the company to invest further in Britain.
The article quoted him as warning that if Britain were to remain outside the euro zone, Nissan might shift production of the successor to the Almera passenger car, presently built at the Sunderland plant, to a French plant operated by Nissan partner Renault.
He warned that, in the long term Nissan could not continue production “in a currency, which does not represent the currency of most of Europe."
