The AA is to offer members a car repair service at their homes as part of an expansion prompted by the £5.75m acquisition of 129 garages from Halfords

Parent company Centrica says the service will transform the AA from a breakdown service to a nationwide vehicle repair and service company.

Centrica has allocated £15m to improve the Halfords garages and to train 1,200 staff. The 29 AA garages used to maintain roadside recovery vehicles will be added to the Halfords chain.
