Lexus is the highest ranked manufacturer in the 2001 UK Car Customer Satisfaction study conducted by JD Power and Associates.

Jaguar retained second place for the third consecutive year, while BMW has moved up to third place.

Toyota and Porsche complete the top five.

The Lexus LS400 heads the model rankings in the eighth annual survey, followed by the Toyota Yaris, Lexus GS300, BMW 7-series, with the Rover 75 and Lexus IS200 sharing fifth place in the survey of 182 'S' and T-registered cars.

The redesigned JD Power and Associates questionnaire was sent to a random selection of car owners, asking them to evaluate, anonymously, their experiences over the first two years of ownership. A total of 28,748 returned questionnaires across 38 brands and 182 models form the basis of the study.

The scope of the survey has been widened this year by using random sampling by the DVLA together with the opinions of Top Gear magazine.

Cars are judged on vehicle quality and reliability, vehicle appeal, ownerships costs and dealer satisfaction.
