Derek Cook has announced plans to sell cars again - using the internet - less than a month after the collapse of his company DC Cook, which lost £6.3m last year.

Fleet Discount Sales will from May operate through a call centre and via the internet, promising fleet-style discounts for retail buyers.

Mr Cook told the Sunday Telegraph there was little future for "old-style dealer networks".

Mr Cook said the success of his new venture would be based on running a single administration centre rather than maintaining showrooms.

Receivers Grant Thornton has closed nine DC Cook dealerships, making 300 people redundant. But there has been strong interest in parts of the business.
