Citroen has set a distance record for electric vehicles, with two Saxo Electrics covering 1,712km (1,064 miles) in 24 hours and 58 seconds on a closed track in France.
The two vehicles, driven in turn, established an average hourly speed of 71.3kmh (44.3mph) and the feat is due to be included in the Guinness Book of Records. (November 23, 2001)
