Honda dealers are using the internet to advise customers whether they should opt for a company car or take a cash payment.

The car maker has launched a branded version of the 'Cash or car?' website (www.cashorcar.co.uk) for use by dealer staff, which can also be accessed through its own portal, www.honda.co.uk.

Sales staff can now help customers unravel the new tax regimes based on a company car's CO2 emissions which come into force from April 2002, but already apply to most users since company cars are typically run over a 36-month term.

Customers who are deemed to be better off 'opting out' are directed towards Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) or Personal Contract Hire (PCH) schemes. The integration of the 'Cash or car' site into Honda's portal was done by web consultancy Netro42.

It is now in talks with a number of other manufacturers interested in their own versions of 'Cash or car?'.
