National motor retailer Lookers has beat companies including Apple UK in an industry list that recognises the Best Places to Work in 2018.

The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards, now in their tenth year overall and fourth year in the UK, rely solely on the input of employees, who elect to provide feedback on their jobs, work environments and companies via Glassdoor.

As a result, Lookers features in 6th place overall, an impressive placing that sees it ahead of Apple (UK) Limited, which is in 9th place, Rentokil (7th place) Hiscox Insurance (8th place) and HomeServe (10th place).

Lookers was the only motor retailer to feature on the list, with much of the praise from its employees coming as a direct result of improvements to the group’s benefits package, including additional holidays, critical illness cover and a full year’s maternity leave.

On the Glassdoor website, current and former em ployees of companies worldwide can share insights and opinions about their work environments by uploading a company review.

The Best Places to Work are determined by using company reviews shared by UK based employees between November 1, 2016 and October 22, 2017.

A company must have at least 1,000 or more employees and have received at least 30 ratings across eight workplace attributes from UK-based employees during the period of eligibility, to be considered.
