The new A5 coupe, and the range-topping S5, were both unveiled at last month’s Geneva Motor Show, so we were a little confused to catch this S5 mule close to Audi’s headquarters.

However, the firm is known to be working on an even higher performance RS5 which should appear later this year.

It will borrow the free-revving 4.2-litre V8 from the RS4, offering 414bhp and scorching acceleration from 0-62mph in less than five seconds.

With a four-wheel drive system putting 60% of power to the rear wheels, the RS5 should be good to drive, too. Expect it to cost at least £50,000.
