The family-owned ChryslerJeep dealer Cumbo almost swept the board at the recent Chrysler Jeep Academy Awards dinner.

Cumbo won Dealer of the Year, Sales Team of the Year and PR Team of the Year. The only one it missed was the Aftersales Award, won by Whitehouse Bexley Heath.

The dealership, which operates a ChryslerJeep only policy at its sole Stoke-on-Trent site, sold 470 new and 180 used cars last year and had an average CSI score of around 90%. The 20-car showroom includes an office for customers use with an internet connection and TV.

With the Dodge brand arriving next year and the range expanding to 13 cars by 2007, Cumbo expects new car sales to increase to around 800 units. It has ruled out taking on any more dealerships or franchises over the next three years.

Warren Shropshire, Cumbo sales director, says: “Being the best in the ChryslerJeep business is truly a tremendous feat, made even more so when you consider the professionalism of the entire Chrysler and Jeep network.

“We have made a huge investment in improving services and facilities for our customers, and list customer satisfaction as one of our key strengths.”

Talking about the PR award, a spokesman for Chrysler says: “Although a lot of dealers enjoyed some fantastic coverage last year it was Cumbo’s creative approach that paid off.

They had a number of publicity stunts that ranged from buying £1,500 worth of Lotto tickets to reward staff, to hosting charity events.”

Cumbo was founded in 1973 by brothers Charlie and Tony Cumbo in Stoke-on-Trent.
