Christopher Macgowan, Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders chief executive, has been appointed to chair the council representing the UK 's top 40 trade associations in the CBI.

The Trade Association Council meets four times a year to contribute to policy work being undertaken by the CBI, and to identify and consider issues of common interest to the heads of trade sector bodies.
