The Mini distribution business in the United States has sold 30,000 vehicles in its first year of sales ending March 22.

Mini USA general manager Jack Pitney says the sales were 50 per cent up on expectations. But there are no plans for substantial sales growth yet, although dealers “could have sold more” he says.

Mini is content to keep annual sales at between 25,000 to 30,000 vehicles over the next few years, says Pitney. "It's an approach that allows our dealers to be profitable, us to be profitable and at the same time not overextend ourselves," he said.
