John Pride, the man who introduced Toyota to the UK in the mid-60s has died of cancer at the age of 72. The business surged in the early 1970s when a redesigned Corolla range and new Celica sports coupe were introduced.
Pride remained managing director of Toyota GB after selling the subsidiary to Inchcape in 1977 and retired in 1987.
