A Government Minister says the UK motor sport industry is the 'Jewel in the Crown' of UK manufacturing. Speaking at the Motor Show in Birmingham last week, Minister for sport Richard Caborn said: "The British motor sport industry is renowned as the best in the world and is massively important to the UK, not least because the ground-breaking technology designed and built here spins off to the luxury car market, then the volume car market. We are tremendously supportive of motor sport in the UK, as demonstrated by our investment in infrastructure around Silverstone, which helped secure Formula One in the UK for the foreseeable future."
