Walon UK has acquired 48 new car transporters as part of a major investment programme that has seen the company spend more than £7m since the start of 2001.

The state of the art DAFcab units and purpose-built Rolfo 10 trailers have been added to the core Walon fleet of over 300 trucks, in preparation for the anticipated rush in car sales this August as the UK adopts a completely new number plate format.

Walon associate director for distribution services, Simon Parsons said: “This significant investment is designed both to increase and upgrade the transporter fleet and improve its age profile. All these vehicles will be in place in time to handle the coming peak period.”

Walon deliver new cars throughout the UK. “Our transporters need to reflect well on our customers and the important product we carry for them,” said finance and distribution director Russell Brown. “So it is vital that we continue to invest and upgrade our fleet on a regular basis to maintain our position as the UK's number one logistics company,”
