Peugeot's Ryton plant is set to exceed the record production figures achieved in 2000.
In the first six months of this year, Ryton workers built 103,385 vehicles, up 2% on 101,179 for the same period in 2000. This is thanks to the on-going demand for the 206, the country's third best-selling car.
Since its introduction production has doubled at Ryton. The 500,000th 206 is due to roll off the production line shortly.
