Multimatic is a global automotive company providing hardware and engineering services to OEMs around the world. Its newly formed Cambridge (UK) based electronics division, Multimatic Electronic Systems (MES), will meet the growing needs of our automotive customers in electronics hardware and software control. Combining our new products with Multimatic’s existing expertise in suspension systems, vehicle dynamics, mechanisms and mechatronics will enable us to go to market with complete active suspension, active aero and powered door products to our customers in the future.
We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our growing engineering team based in Milton Hall in Cambridge (UK). You will be responsible for and lead the Electronics Engineering for our active & adaptive suspension, active aero and powered-door solutions. You will be part of a highly capable team split between Cambridge (UK) and Toronto (Canada) and will have the opportunity to be involved in all stages of product development from concept through to end of life.
We need someone who is experienced in electronic hardware design, with a good grounding in embedded systems. Someone who has previously designed products for manufacture, ideally in an automotive environment, and someone used to working to deadlines and communicating well. And we need someone who will embrace our culture - finding ways to say “yes”, supporting and developing our engineers, meeting all commitments, being flexible, embracing challenges and ensuring we deliver excellent solutions to our customers.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Requirements capture, interpretation and generation of design specifications
- Ownership of designs, devising solutions and solving problems as they arise
- Architectural development of electronic systems
- Circuit design, analysis and documentation
- Validation of designs against requirements
- Integration and validation at system level
- Preparation of technical documentation and reports
- Appropriate documentation of the design to allow long term support of the product
- Identify areas for improvement including tools, techniques and processes
Ideal Experience
- Degree in electronics engineering or an equivalent qualification
- Architectural development of electronic control systems in automotive domain
- Demonstrate evidence of good organisation, planning, cost control and execution of work
- Ability to work in a team with other engineering and science disciplines
- Good Communication and customer liaison skills
- Design commissioning and debugging
- Document creation including specifications, design descriptions, design & test reports
- Reliability analysis, FMEA
- Taking a design from architecture through to production
