We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to be a Classic & Race Car Restoration Engineer/Mechanic to join a fantastic automotive company, based near Mildenhall.

Their core business areas consist of:

• Historic race car restoration
• Classic car restoration, maintenance and repairs
• Race car re-preparation, set up, development and trackside support; mainly in the historic field, but all eras are possible dependent upon customers' collections
• Historic and vintageant rally event car preparation and field support, for rallies such as the Peking to Paris
• Automotive engineering
• Engine rebuilds and transmissions
• Disability hand controls
This is a rare opportunity to work on a variety of prestigious and historically important cars. Some projects will be partial and short-term, whilst others may be long term and from the ground up rebuilds. This is a skilled engineering position offering immense job satisfaction and pride upon completion of the projects, together with occasional exciting trackside opportunities.
You should be:
• An experienced and practical engineer/mechanic with a proven track record
• Able to work using your own initiative (following initial training)
• Meticulous about accuracy and attention to detail
• Discreet and respectful of the confidentiality of customers' collections, business and personal affairs
• Comfortable liaising with customers in the absence of the business owners
• Interested in classic cars and motor racing
• Excellent at problem solving
• Able to think on your feet' in a time sensitive and pressurised environment
• Competent in maths
• A loyal team player
• Enthusiastic, with a positive outlook and can do' attitude

Requirements:

• Full driving licence.
• Preferably the experience and licence category to tow vehicles. However, the business will pay for necessary DVLA towing courses if required.
• As attendance at race meetings abroad can be at short notice, it is recommended that an up-to-date passport is ready, this is not essential and can be discussed further.

Additional information:

Employment can be either PAYE or sub contract (self-employed)
Terms of employment regards working hours, holiday entitlement etc, will be negotiated with suitable applicants.
The basic working week is 42.5 hours along with the options of flexible working time.
High levels of remuneration are available dependant on skill levels
