Aston Barclay has confirmed a £1 million investment into its Chelmsford auction site to increase its capacity and to install a twin turntable inspection bay.
The 12-acre site will be refreshed to improve workflow across all areas of vehicle preparation, inspection, sale and logistics.
An additional 160 parking spaces will reduce the amount of times cars are moved while on site.
“Chelmsford has been at full capacity for a while now and this investment will make a big difference to the site’s efficiency. Ultimately it will allow us to further grow our vendor volumes,” explained Neil Hodson, Aston Barclay’s group chief executive.
A new entrance for car transporters will be built on the north-west side of the site, close to the new inspection facility, to further increase efficiencies.
When the developments are completed cars will be unloaded, washed and then imaged using two new turntables complete with SpinCar technology. It will enables buyers to closely examine the car’s interior and exterior condition online.
Chelmsford will be the first Aston Barclay site to adopt two turntables, which will speed up iuts vehicle inspection process.
The site’s two auction halls will be retained that host six sales per week, which include a fleet and leasing sale on Monday, a dealer group sale on Monday evening, a weekly Mercedes-Benz sale on a Tuesday and a second dealer group sale every Wednesday.
