Inchcape has appointed BP’s chief marketing officer, global retail and senior vice president, Alexandra Jenson, as a non-executive director.

Jenson joined the AM100 car retail group’s Nominations Committee when she officially took up the post – her first non-executive directorship – yesterday (January 29).

In her role with BP, Jensen chairs global retail strategy and delivery across 19 countries and 18,700 service stations.

She is also accountable for the global retail marketing function, including digital, loyalty strategies, brand, food and offer development as well as operations and bottom-line delivery in Europe retail and fleet.

An Oxford University graduate, Jensen holds a Masters from Stanford and is on the board of the mental health charity, Mind.

She joined BP plc in 1991 and has held a variety of executive and management roles both in the UK and China.

Inchcape’s chairman, Nigel Stein, said: "We are delighted to welcome Alex to the Inchcape Board in her first non-executive directorship in a UK listed company.  She brings complementary skills, including digital experience gained in her executive roles as well as a good understanding of the global automotive industry.

“Alex will be a valuable addition to the Inchcape Board as our growth in faster growing emerging markets continues."
