All-electric Chinese brand GWM Ora has become the latest manufacturer to gain accreditation under the Motor Industry Code of Practice for New Cars.
With this addition, the total number of accredited vehicle manufacturers now stands at 46, representing 98% of all new cars sold in the UK - a record-breaking portfolio for The Motor Ombudsman.
GWM Ora, known for models like the ORA 03 hatchback and the upcoming Ora 07 saloon, is the fourth manufacturer to join the New Car Code this year.
This accreditation underscores the brand’s commitment to exceeding legal requirements in delivering high-quality service and robust warranty provisions to its customers.
The New Car Code ensures that accredited manufacturers adhere to strict guidelines, including transparent advertising, the use of plain language in warranty documents, easy access to replacement parts, and efficient customer handling procedures for dispute resolution.
As an accredited member, GWM Ora gains several exclusive benefits. These include access to The Motor Ombudsman’s Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) services, a dedicated business information line for guidance, participation in training programs and the use of the Motor Ombudsman and CTSI-approved Code logos for enhanced brand visibility.
The brand also has the opportunity to participate in customer service and networking forums organised by The Motor Ombudsman.
Accreditation also makes GWM Ora eligible for nomination in The Motor Ombudsman’s annual Customer Service Star Award for vehicle manufacturers.
Bill Fennell, chief ombudsman and managing director of The Motor Ombudsman, welcomed GWM Ora, stating: “We are delighted to have GWM Ora join our New Car Code. As a dynamic and rapidly growing brand, their addition comes at an exciting time as they continue to expand in the UK market.”
Toby Marshall, managing director of GWM Ora UK, added: “Achieving accreditation with The Motor Ombudsman is a significant milestone for us as we strengthen our brand presence in the UK.
“We fully support the Ombudsman’s mission to promote fair and transparent trading in the automotive sector and value the resources and guidance they provide, helping us continue to meet the needs of today’s car buyers.”
