Arnold Clark has acquired one of only 200 Volkswagen XL1 plug-in hybrid cars and is displaying the new model at its Crow Road dealership in Glasgow.
Roch Starrs, Volkswagen franchise manager at Arnold Clark, said: ‘The XL1 is a truly amazing car and we are excited that our Crow Road Glasgow branch is the only place in Scotland where you can see it."
Starrs said the model demonstrates VW's engineering and design expertise.
The XL1 has a lithium-ion battery that can be charged with a domestic electric socket and has a top speed of 100mph. It is powered by a two cylinder 47bhp 800cc diesel engine and a 26bhp electric motor that can reportedly cover 50 miles on battery power alone.
The vehicle was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2013.

Nice report Tom and interesting to note that while you have provided the mph, bhp and electric range the EMISSIONS of the 800 cc VW DIESEL engine are not quoted.......... Were VW to embarrassed to tell you or is their calculator still wonky?
