Peter Johnson has been appointed chairman of the RMI National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) with effect from tomorrow.

His recent roles have included chairman of the Rank Group, Senior independent director of Bunzl and the Wates Group.

He was chairman of Inchcape from 2006 to 2010 and its chief executive from 2000 to 2006.

Johnson said “I am delighted to be appointed as chairman of the NFDA and look forward to supporting the franchise sector in the interesting and challenging times ahead and developing a constructive relationship with manufacturers.”

Johnson takes over the role from Paul Williams of Vertu Motors.
