Jaguar Land Rover workers have voted in favour of a one year pay freeze and shorter working week to avoid compulsory job cuts.

Unite and GMB members accepted the deal 70% to 30% after being urged to do so by Union officials, reports Sky News.

Workers at the firm's sites in Castle Bromwich, Solihull and Halewood on Merseyside took part in the ballot.

The company has shed 1,800 agency jobs, along with management positions and cut production in recent months to cope with the downturn.
