Audi could introduce a 498bhp diesel engine to its R8 super car model.
The German-manufacturer debuted the new 6.0-litre 12-cylinder TDI powered R8 concept at the Detroit Motor Show yesterday.
The diesel R8 will hit 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 186mph. The engine already complies with Euro VI emission regulations despite them not being introduced until 2014.
Although Audi hasn't confirmed the diesel R8 for production it's definitely a possibility. The V12 TDi will be available for the Q7 and A8 and the TT will also get a diesel engine next year.
