BMW’s UK boss Jim O’Donnell has accused its dealers of being complacent.

He said at the launch of the new 3-Series: "Many of our dealers are simply lazy - they're just not hungry enough."

The UK's 156 BMW dealers each has a five-year contract with the manufacturer, due to expire in 2008.

He warned, however, that unless they improve some will lose the BMW franchise.
