A 20% rise in the number of calls on legal issues to the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) member helpline has prompted the organisation to set up a series of legal workshops for its members.

From September, the RMI in conjunction with law firm Clarks, will be running courses on employment law and customer relations for RMI members nationwide.

The workshops are part of a legal service that the RMI has developed to more closely suit the needs of its members.

The courses will cover both consumer and employment law, including: discipline, grievance and fair dismissal, customer rights and complaints handling, risk management and complaints procedures, discrimination and equal opportunities, and director liability and responsibility.

The courses will be run in Rugby, London, York, and Bristol.
