The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI) has announced its new president. Colin Parlett, chief executive of independent repairer, CB Motors, succeeds Fred Maguire, chairman of Lookers, who stands down after two years in the post.

Parlett says: 'I am delighted to take on the role of president for the RMI. I look forward to continuing Fred Maguire's good work, promoting the RMI to consumers and working more closely with Government both in the UK and Europe.

'I have been in this industry for 30 years and I see this as my opportunity to give something back.'

Parlett will be the RMI president until summer 2005.
