Tata has rolled out the first batch of CityRover cars, to be marketed by MG Rover in the British and European markets. Dr. Sumantran, executive director, Tata Motors, handed over the first car to Kevin Howe, chief executive of MG Rover at the ceremonial roll-out of the first CityRover off the assembly line at the Tata's plant in Pune.

CityRover, based on Tata's Indica, will be marketed through Rover's dealer network in the UK and in continental Europe, while Tata's Safari SUV and pick-up range will soon be re-launched in the UK via a separate specialist franchise. Tata Motors itself will continue to market the Tata-branded version of the Indica through its existing network in Europe, alongside its SUVs and pick-ups.
