Swansway Motor Group has opened the doors to two new BYD dealerships in Cheshire, following on from the business announcing it would partner with the new Chinese franchise in April.

Both dealerships will sit alongside the group’s used car supermarket Motor Match, with the BYD Crewe premise located on Beswick Drive and the BYD Chester dealership located on Bumpers Lane.

The Swansway Motor Group directors are eager to see what this new partnership will bring for the group and its customers as the partnership evolves.

Sam Booth, head of business at BYD Crewe, said: “We are delighted to open the doors of our new BYD dealership to the people of Crewe.

“It’s an interesting time for electric vehicles and we are pleased to be bringing another offering to those in the local area.”

BYD has outlined ambitious plans for 2024 and plans to move fast to deliver an EV in every segment of the UK market.

The brand is putting some significant marketing budget behind its European launch, partnering with Euro 2024 as the official e-mobility sponsor.

As part of its ambitious expansion plan for the UK, BYD aims to open up to 60 retail sites across the UK by the middle of the year.

BYD however plans to limit the number of investor partners to below 20 in the UK, strategically selecting them to cover specific geographic areas.

Head of sales Simon Bisp said: “We're going to follow a strategy of limiting the number of investor partners we work with, mainly because it makes sense to work with investors in logical geographic areas, but also because of the speed with which we want to move.

“So if you anticipate between 60 to 80 sites, we would probably aim to keep the number of total number of investors below 20 and therefore, we'll be asking those investors to open 2-3-4 sites themselves.

“We're almost there in terms of our investor partners, There's a few more to be signed up over the next month or so but from then it will largely be progressing with the ones that we've chosen in terms of increasing the footprint.”
