Order books are now open in the UK for Volkwagen’s three new Golf estates; the Golf R, GTD, and the Alltrack, ahead of first deliveries in August.
The R and GTD estates boast all the attributes of their popular hatchback counterparts, with like for like trims, but boot space is increased from 380 litres to 605 litres – and up to 1,620 litres when the rear seats are folded flat.
Power outputs range from 108bhp in Alltrack which is available with three engines, through 181bhp in the GTD to 296bhp in the range-topping R model. The Alltrack and the R Estate also gain 4MOTION four-wheel drive.
The Golf R estate is much like its hatchback sibling, though the estate is only available with a six-speed DSG gearbox.
The Golf GTD Estate has a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a six-speed DSG version is available for a premium of £1,415.
The Golf Alltrack features the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, as standard, off-road driving profile, higher ground clearance (up to 20 mm), and is styled to match its off-road credentials with flared wheel arches and side sills for added protection, as well as newly designed bumpers.
