Neil Hodson, group sales director at motor remarketing group Manheim, is set to leave the business to join vehicle data firm HPI.
AM understands Hodson is currently on gardening leave at Manheim and will take the role of HPI's managing director in August.
He has been at Manheim for seven years, prior to which he was director and general manager of Experian Automotive, during which he established its car data check to rival HPI.
A source in the motor auction sector said: "Neil is a huge talent for Manheim to lose and he'll do great things at HPI."

Manheim to be world class but consistently fail to nurture and develop talent. Neil's departure is another example of why they will never be number one in the uk despite a lacklustre competitive market and millions to bankroll them from the USA. Bring them in, chew them up and spit them out should be the recruitment motto for Manheim Uk.
